what is helumi?

helumi adds a drive to finder with terabytes of cloud storage. files in it look and work like any other file, but they take zero bytes on your mac.

how can a file open instantly if it isn’t on my mac?

helumi fetches only the part of a file your app asks for, the moment it asks. a video starts as soon as the first seconds arrive, and skipping ahead fetches just that spot.

how is helumi different from icloud drive, dropbox or google drive?

they download the whole file before it opens, and then it takes up space on your mac. helumi only fetches what you use, so big files open fast and your mac stays free.

will it work with my apps?

yes. final cut pro, premiere pro, photoshop, quicktime and preview all see helumi as a normal drive. no plugins or extensions.

do i need an internet connection?

for most files, yes. files you opened recently are often still on your mac and open offline. new files you add are saved on your mac and upload when you’re back online.

how does helumi protect my files?

files are encrypted on cloudflare’s storage and always sent over secure connections. deleted files are kept for 30 days, and edits made on two macs never overwrite each other.

what happens if i stop paying?

your files are never deleted when a plan ends. you just can’t add new ones until you choose a plan again.

what are the system requirements?

a mac running macOS 26 tahoe or newer. helumi is built on apple’s newest drive technology, which starts with macOS 26.
